About Us

Almost two decades ago Critical Concepts was formed to serve the needs of the exciting and relatively young field of Neonatology. Since then we have set the standard as the trusted supplier of clinical products and educational support for medical facilities throughout New England and Upstate New York.

Critcial Concepts was founded by Michael and Carolyn Hollis. They, along with their team, bring a high level of professionalism and responsiveness to the many clients they serve.

Michael J. Hollis

Michael graduated from Boston College and began his healthcare career at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. Several years later he accepted a position with Searle Will Ross, a national medical distribution company. After completing his MBA at Northeastern University, he accepted a position as Vice President of Operations at Eastern Hospital Supply, the largest medical distributor in New England.  After the sale of Eastern, Michael returned to sales as a manufacturers’ representative and found his true passion: servicing the pediatric and neonatal areas in hospitals throughout New England. Michael has attended many conferences related to neo-natology and is also NIDCAP certified.

Carolyn B. Hollis

After graduating from Boston College with a BS in Accounting, Carolyn began a successful career in computer sales. Several years later, she began her second career as a full time mother of three children and spent much of her free time volunteering for many organizations in the community.  Looking to get back in the workforce as the children got older, Carolyn drew up the business plan for Critical Concepts and assumed the role of President at its’ founding  in 1993.  In the early years she had many hats, from selling to ordering supplies to paying the bills. Carolyn has overseen the growth of the company and implemented sound business practices to foster continue expansion.  Carolyn also is past president and continues to sit on the Board of Directors of The Mission of Deeds, a local nonprofit.
